On July 1st, Spring Hill residents will see increases in their monthly stormwater and sanitation bills from the City.
You can read the details about each rate adjustment below:
Stormwater Rate Increase
At a meeting in 2023, under the guidance of a third-party consultant, BOMA passed an ordinance to increase stormwater ERU (equivalent residential unit) rates for customers of the City of Spring Hill.
The rate, which had not been changed since 2009, was found to be insufficient for keeping up the stormwater needs throughout the city. The new rate increases establish an allocation of funds to maintain the stormwater department, allow the capability to make necessary repairs to existing stormwater infrastructure, and create funding for necessary capital improvements as the city continues to grow.

Effective July 1, 2024, the rate for single-family dwellings with less than 10,000 square feet of impervious space (houses, driveways, sheds, etc.) shall increase to $6.75 per month. This is a $1.50 increase over the previous rate of $5.25.
The monthly residential rate will then increase to $7.75 on July 1, 2025. Beginning in 2026, an escalation of $.25, or an amount equivalent to the rise of inflation, will be added to the rate.
Those with single-family dwellings with more than 10,000 square feet of impervious space on their property will pay $6.75 per month multiplied by the number of "Equivalent Residential Units" their property takes up. The Equivalent Residential Unit in Spring Hill is established to be 3,412 square feet of impervious area.
As for commercial property, owners will pay a rate of $6.50 per month multiplied by their property’s ERU value. This is a $1.50 per month increase over the previous rate of $5.00.
The monthly commercial stormwater rate will increase to $7.75 on July 1, 2025. Beginning in 2026, an escalation of $.25, or an amount equivalent to the rise of inflation, will be added to the rate.

Sanitation Rate Increase
Beginning July 1, Spring Hill residents will also notice a sanitation rate change on their monthly bills.
The "City Services" fee, which was previously $6.74 per month, will be increased by $1.00 to $7.74 per month. This fee increase is to help cover the cost of services throughout the city.
This brings the overall sanitation rate to $23.26 per month. Sanitation charges include City Services, Trash, and Recycling.
This comes as a result of Resolution 22-189, which was passed by BOMA in September 2022.
