On Thursday, November 15, City staff members attempted to repair a threshold to a doorway at the Spring Hill Public Library. In the afternoon during the repair, it appeared there may be some structural concerns with the support beams of a portion of the building. City inspectors, along with a structural engineer, arrived early in the evening and decided that further evaluation was necessary to determine if there were any severe structural or safety concerns.
The Library was closed out of an abundance of caution and the building will remain closed until we are certain that our Library patrons and staff are safe to return. In the meantime, the City is exploring every available option to get our Library back open for all the people who use its services. We will work diligently to get the building back open and operating for everyone to enjoy.
The Library’s outside book drop will be temporarily unavailable, and all late fees will be paused until the Library reopens. Online resources are still available including e-books, audiobooks, and videos.
