CITY OF SPRING HILL
PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION

The Spring Hill Parks and Recreation Department is currently accepting applications for interested citizens to serve on the Parks and Recreation Commission. 

The Parks and Recreation Commission of the City of Spring Hill, Tennessee shall serve as the advisory board of the parks and recreation programs and facilities of the City and are subject to the actions and policies of the Board of Mayor and Aldermen. 

The Commission shall be constituted as a body of five members. One member shall be appointed from each ward, and must be and remain a resident of the ward from which appointed. The members appointed from wards shall be appointed by majority vote of the membership of the Board of Mayor and Aldermen. The Mayor shall appoint a fifth member who shall be an Alderman and shall serve as chairman of the Commission.  Members of the Commission shall serve without compensation, but may be reimbursed for reasonable and necessary expenses.

The initial members of the Commission appointed from wards shall serve terms as follows: first ward, until December 31, 2008; second ward, until December 31, 2009; third ward, until December 31, 2010; fourth ward, until December 31, 2011. Upon the expiration of each initial term, a member from such ward shall be appointed to a four year term. Members shall be eligible for reappointment. Vacancies shall be filled by vote of a majority of the membership of the Board of Mayor and Aldermen to serve out the remainder of the vacating member's term. The Alderman appointed by the Mayor to serve on the Commission shall serve at the pleasure of the Mayor and only during the appointing Mayor's term of office as Mayor.

The Commission shall conduct monthly meeting study sessions as public meetings upon adequate public notice, and shall keep and maintain minutes of all meetings.
