Stormwater Management Program

The City of Spring Hill Stormwater Management Program is in the process of implementing the Stormwater Management Ordinance that was approved by the Board of Mayor and Alderman on November 19th, 2007. It is an essential part of the City's Small Municipal Separate Stormwater Sewer System (MS4) NPDES General Permit for Discharges issued by the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation.

The Stormwater Management Ordinance also sets up new and more restrictive erosion prevention and sediment control requirements (EP & SC) and stormwater design standards that will effect anyone who developes land in Spring Hill.

The MS4 Permit

The MS4 Permit includes 6 minimum control requirements for how the city will manage its stormwater runoff program:

1. Public education and outreach
2. Public involvement / participation
3. Illicit discharge detection and elimination
4. Construction site stormwater runoff control
5. Post - construction stormwater management in new development
and re-development
6. Pollution prevention / good housekeeping in municipal operation
