About Board of Mayor and Aldermen Meetings
The public is invited to attend and participate in the City of Spring Hill Board and Mayor and Aldermen (BOMA) Meetings.  Beginning in January 2015, Work Sessions will be held on the 1st Monday of each Month at 6:00 P.M..  Regular Monthly Voting Meetings occur on the 3rd Monday of each Month at 7:00 P.M. in the Court Room at City Hall, 199 Town Center Pkwy, Spring Hill.  See the city calendar for meeting dates. City Hall Court Room is disability accessible.

NOTE:  Beginning in January 2015, the Board of Mayor and Aldermen Monthly Work Session Meeting, previously held on the 2nd Monday of each Month at 7:00 P.M. have been moved to the 1st Monday of each Month at 6:00PM for all of 2015.

Work Session Meeting Format
Unless otherwise announced, BOMA Work Sessions occur on the 1st Mondays of each month at 6:00 P.M. At work sessions, items and issues for consideration by the BOMA for the current month's meeting are brought forward and discussed. Unless previously announced, there is no voting that takes place at a Work Session. A work session is different from a public hearing: in a work session, no testimony on the reocrd is taken from the public, although the public is invited to attend the meeting and provide comment when recognized by the chair (the Mayor).

Regular Meeting Format
Per Municipal Code § 1-101, The Board of Mayor and Aldermen (BOMA) hold regular monthly meetings at 7:00 P.M. on the 3rd Monday
of each month at City Hall. Occassionally, the Mayor may call a Special Called Meeting which by law is required to be advertised in advance. 

Per Municipal Code § 1-102, the following regular order of business is observed at Regular Meetings unless dispensed by a majority vote of the members present:

  • Call to Order
  • Stipulation of Aldermen Present
  • Approval of the Agenda
  • Comments by the Mayor
  • Concerned Citizens
  • Consent Agenda Including:
    • Approval of Minutes of the Previous Meeting
    • Reports and Minutes from Departments and Committees
  • Previous Business
  • New Business

Per Municipal Code § 1-103, Robert's Rules of Order, Newly Revised serves as the Rules of Order and Parliamentary Procedure.

Public Hearings
Public hearings, which are separate items of business on a separate agenda generally occuring prior to the Regular Meeting at 6:55 P.M., give citizens the opportunity to express their opinions and comments to the BOMA on specific issues.  Notice of the public hearings are published per State Law in the newspaper before the public hearing.

Public Hearing procedures are as follows:

  • Board Chair (the Mayor) calls the Public Hearing to Order
  • Each Item on the Public Hearing Agenda is read
  • Board Chair (the Mayor) opens the hearing to the public for comment
  • Board Chair closes public hearing
