Representation
Self-Representation & Representation by an Attorney
The first call of your case will be on the regular docket, which is one of the first two of the three Municipal Court dates each month.  You may represent yourself or bring an attorney with you for the first call of your case.  Any charges to which you plead "guilty" during this first call will be heard at that time and a ruling made by the Judge on that charge at that time.  You can then pay any fines or fees that are due in the clerk's office.

If you plead "not guilty" to any charge on the citation during the "first call" on the regular docket, the Judge will re-set that charge for a trial at a later time (usually the third court session of the month).  You must return for trial at that time to make your case, and the officer who wrote you the citation will also be required to be present to tell his or her side of the story.  If you need to set your trial at a later date because of a scheduling conflict, you can make this request to the Judge at the time you request your trial at the first call of the regular docket.

Anyone appearing before the Spring Hill Municipal Court for their trial may present his/her own case before the Judge, or they may hire and bring an attorney to represent them, at their discretion.  Litigants have the right to present witnesses, documents and exhibits that are relevant to their case.  All persons testifying before the court will be placed under oath.
