Solid Waste Removal
Currently, the City of Spring Hill provides weekly curbside pickup of all solid waste (garbage). As of April 1, 2013, recyclables also are collected every other week according to your address.
All Solid Waste (non-recyclables and recyclables)
Refer to the list of assigned garbage days to find out when your garbage will be collected. Garbage needs to be placed at the curb by 6 a.m. on your assigned day to ensure it is picked up. There is no specific type of garbage container required. Garbage containers can be rented from Waste Management or residents can provide their own. If you wish to rent a container from Waste Management they can be contacted at (800) 257-9145. Container rentals are billed separately by Waste Management.
The City of Spring Hill's garbage and recycling collection contractor, Waste Management, observes six national holidays per year, including New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas. When one of the holidays falls on a weekday, trash and recycling collection will be delayed by one day that week. For example, Thursday pickups will be on Friday, and Friday pickups will be on Saturday.
Recyclables are collected on the same day that your garbage is collected, but only every other week, according to your address. Please see the garbage pickup by address schedule along with the Waste Management Curbside Collection Calendar to determine the week of your route.
A container for recycling will be provided and is easily identified by the yellow lid. Place all your recyclables in your recycling cart together - no need to sort - and place your cart by the curb no later than 6 a.m. on your collection day.
Recyclables are collected on the same day that your garbage is collected, but only every other week, according to your address. See list of accepted recyclables.

Please do not dispose of chemicals in your household garbage. Chemicals, which should always be disposed of at a special chemical drop-off point, can cause fires inside of the garbage trucks.
Brush and limbs
Brush and limbs cut by the homeowner less than 10 feet in length and placed at the curb will be collected by Public Works.
Bagged grass clippings are picked up every Monday, and should be placed at the curb in biodegradable paper bags. This type of waste will not be picked up if placed at the curb in plastic bags. Yard waste and grass clipping bags should be no more than 40 pounds (any bags over 40 pounds will not be picked up).
Bulk / Large Item Pickup
Public Works' Street Department will collect larger items (those Waste Management will not pick up), such as refrigerators, washing machines, stoves, dishwashers, furniture, exercise equipment and other similar larger items.
Larger sized items are picked up weekly on Mondays. Items should be placed at the curb by 7:00 a.m. Do not place items over water meters or near power boxes.
All contractors are required to haul away their own debris. Debris may include, but not limited to, tree limbs and other yard clippings, re-modeling debris, glass windows, or doors, and broken appliances installed by someone other than the homeowner. Homeowners not in compliance may receive citations from the City Codes Department.
